Waterdog Lake- The story is that a 12 year old boy was walking around the lake unprotected and vanished. Some say that ghost of Waterdog killed him, some disagree. A man was convicted of the killing, the lake being where he dumped the body. The problem is when people went to go investigate the murder they vanished as well.
Another man says that back in 1964 he was fishing at the lake alone when a feeling of being watched overtook him and he had to eventually leave. In 1972 the same man went back with his girlfriend on his mortorcycle. When they stopped to look at the landscape, from the west side of the lake, a creature of unknown orign, came running towards him and the girl. It was making a hoofen sound as if it were two legged. It made a snorting sound as it got closer. Quickly he and his girlfriend left. He has yet to return.
Camarillo, CA:
-
Scary Dairy- Located on the California State University Channel Island's campus is an abandoned mental insitution and a barn. The school was once a hospital that has been renivated except for the mental institution. The hospital was closed in the 1980's according to one person we spoke to. Back then if you wanted to prove you were the bravest, and dumbest, of all your friends they would simple say, "We should go to Camarillo." The mental insitution had its fair share of murders and deaths and even though the building is locked up people still manage to get in. If the security doesn't snatch you right away people report feelings of sadness, hate, nausea and full body apperitions have been seen. On the path to the insitution and barn people report sounds like: moans, footsteps next to them, crying and screaming.
The barn was either a slaughter house or dairy, thus the name Scary Dairy. You can go into the barn without the fear of getting caught but its suppose to be just as creepy as the hospital.
Los Angeles, CA:
-
White Bronco- On one of the many on/off ramps of the 101 Freeway in Los Angeles is a white Bronco that is seen swerving and according to stories causes people to get in accidents avoiding it. When the police show up to investigate there is no sign of a second car. The Bronco is said to be that of a man who had been killed by a drunk driver (who survived) and is now reliving his untimely death.
Pebble Beach, CA:

The Lady in Lace- The next time you're driving down Seventeen Mile Drive on a foggy night look out for the Lady in Lace. Many speculate that she is Dona Maria del Carmen Barreto. Barreto use to own much of the land along that part of the coast and to this day is still watching over it. Other people argue that the Lady in Lace is a gilted woman who was left at the alter and is now seen in her wedding dress. Even though the identity of the spirit is under debate, everyone notices how sad and distraught she looks, as if she were about the cry.
Santa Clarita, CA:
There are several different stories the involve the Santa Clarita area. Some are so far fetched that we're not sure they even exist. Check the bibliography for additional stories. There's just to many to put up here, the ones that seem to hold some merit are mentioned below.
-
Egg Plantation on Walnut Street in Newhall- Open to the public during business hours. (6am to 2pm) There's a legend about an angry cook apparition.
-
Mentryville up Pico Cyn Rd- Open from sunrise to the sunset- Security Warning!!! There will be security after sunset. Mentryville is the local ghost town. The town was founded in 1876 with the discover of black gold, or what we call oil. Nestled in the Santa Susana Moutains about four miles from Lyons Ave, several of the original structures remain. The town was mostly deserted by the 1930's with only the head foreman's family staying on to manage the oil supply that ran out in 1990. There have been several different things that have brought people to the conclusion that the town is haunted. In the maintence yard a huge metal chain that is used to lock the yard up is known to hit against the fence violently with no help of the wind. The large mansion is also said to be haunted, especially the second floor.
-
Crossroads of Warm Springs Rd and Sand Canyon Rd- Supposedly a woman in white is seen running to this crossroads at night screaming for help. It is believed she is one of the teenagers killed in a car crash on prom night in the 1980's. Evidently they were on their way to the Nike Base (mentioned in the Places of Interest page) and had been drinking.
-
Ruiz Cemetery- This is private property so you must be careful to get permission before going. It is said a little boy ghost haunts a home that had been moved from Sand Canyon to a neighboring property. While the house was beening repainted outside a handprint of a young child appeared when there was no children at the home. The daughter of the the owner would hear a baby's cry upstairs. The most bizare thing that happened was a large cast iron horse trough was moved several feet and turned a different direction with no evidence of human doing. The trough could only be moved by a crane and at the time was completly full of water. There was no footprints or any sign of the trough being dragged to its new position.
-
Sword Man- Or at least that's what Tiffany calls him. She saw this spirit several years ago coming home from Disneyland on New Year's Day at about three in the morning. Tiffany was with another friend driving down Soledad Canyon Road when an apparition of a man coming out of a sewer drain could bee seen in her headlights. The man was carrying a sword and as soon as the man noticed them he ran across the street, right in front of their car, and then disappeared. Both of them assumed it was their eyes playing tricks on them. Yes, this sounds a little farfetched but while looking up ghost stories for our valley Tiffany came across the story and recalled that she had the same thing happen to her.
-
The Sad Green Eyed Lady- If your driving down Soledad Canyon Road at night and see a beautiful young lady with gold hair and sad green eyes selling flowers pull over and say hi to the ghost. The story goes that this young woman sold flowers across the road from one of the mobile home parks where her former lover lived. Legend is that she died of a broke heart while carrying his child. The woman is seen selling flowers silently begging the man for his declaration of undying love. The man is said to still be alive and living in the same mobile home park he had inhabited while having his affair with the Sad Green Eyed lady.
-
William S. Hart Mansion- At the top of the hill in Hart Park is the old mansion. This place is supposedly haunted on a couple of fronts. First there's the dog cemetary on the nature trail. Apparently you can see the dogs running around at night. Then there's the ranch house where a ghost named Martha and a child reside. According to a psychic, she's quite nice. Noises and bumps come from inside the ranch house. As for the mansion itself, William S. Hart himself is said to hang out there with his two great dane dogs.
-
Bouquet Canyon Road towards the Falls- This road is featured on the Scray Roads page but it also can be a great place to ghost hunt. The road weaves through the Angeles Forest all the way to Palmdale. It is said a man in a jacket is seen at the entrance of the Angeles Forest screaming for help, while other people report seeing a man with a goblin's head flying over the mountains. A little over halfway between Santa Clarita and Palmdale there's been a white streak of light seen going over the road with no apparent source. There are no reflectors and no apparent telephone poles.
